It’s better to have younger govt appointees –Okeahilam, 36-year-old Imo commissioner

Chidiebube Okeoma Thirty -six - year -old Ekezie Johnbosco Okeahilam is the Imo State Commissioner for Commerce , Industry and Entrepreneurship . Okeahilam , the youngest commissioner in the state and a first -class graduate, tells CHIDIEBUBE OKEOMA about his transition from the private sector to the public sector Many people have been talking about your age , saying that young people are often not mature enough for top political offices; what is your view on that ? Frankly, I am 36 years old and that is a quite a lot of years . But come to think of it, I will be more impressed if I see a 25 -year -old becoming a commissioner . So I do not see how being a 36 - year -old commissioner in 2019 is a big deal . It is about capacity and the ability to deliver. You graduated with a first -class degree in economics, was Chief Operating Officer for Continental Sports and Head of Business Development, Wakanow , why do you want to occupy a political office at a young age when you can still achieve more feats in the private sector ? Well, I think the minimum age requirement for President of Nigeria is 35 years , so at 36 years old with a master ’ s degree and having graduated with a first

Govt appointments: Women still marginalized-Princess Anene

By AFAM Echi A female protagonist and gender equality advocate, Princess Calista Anene has risen in protest to condemn the poor representation of women in the recent political appointments made by the Imo State government. The Oguta born Princess spoke at the side line shortly after the swearing in of the state Commissioners Wednesday at the Ahiajoku Arts and Culture centre. Fuming that only two women were appointed in the Ihedioha’s Rebuild team to take Imo to higher level she wondered why the governments finds it very difficult to respect the 35% Affirmative action stipulated by the United Nations. The Canadian based advocate for good governance insisted that women should be fairly represented in this PDP government led by Governor Ihedioha because according to her women fought more than men during the campaigns and elections with their adult children as the major voters. While she expressed gratitude to the governor for finding the women worthy, she also hoped that the governor will be magnanimous enough to give more women appointments in the subsequent positions to be filled. In her words, ‘lots of women who are interested in politics tend to shy away from it

Owerri: MC Duke Surprises Traffic Warder with Complete Uniform

Imo state fine master of ceremony, comedian and social media 'enhancer', McDuke was on the 9th of August 2019 surprised a traffic warder around wetheral-ikenegbu axis with a complete NSCDC uniform to motivate him for his flawless service to humanity. The Mc noted that whenever the man is in control of traffic, there's always free flow in the area. This same spirit that led the spontaneous comedian has directed him many times to reach out to many people who are going through one life challenges or the other. How he does this I don't know but one thing I know is, it must be God working through him. I've watched him solicit funds for disabled persons to help fix them into something, even the poor are not left out, and over the years, he has been a voice to the voiceless. He derives joy helping people which he said makes him feel like a millionaire. JudeBonnisonMedia

Ihedioha pulling down my projects at night, Okorocha alleges

Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri The immediate past governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has accused Governor Emeka Ihedioha of plotting to discredit his achievements by secretly pulling down some of his projects at night. Senator Okorocha who made this known in a press statement he issued through his Special Adviser on media, Sam Onwuemeodo, said that “they have indeed, formed the habit of going at night to loot or pull down some of the structures Okorocha built and in the morning they would tell the world that such structures fell down like the waterfall at Freedom Square, Owerri just to blackmail the former governor and discredit his achievements. “And the issue now is that these structures have been standing for years before Ihedioha’s coming and the question now is, why have they begun to fall within the few months he came to power,” Okorocha stated. He further accused the governor of trying to fight back over the defeat they suffered in 2011, and 2015 when he assumed office. “They are also playing the politics of how to remain in power in the state having known that they didn’t win the 2019 governorship election because before now, nobody had become the governor of th
