IMHA Elects Principal Officers, Adopts Amended House Rule

Imo state House of Assembly has filled the vacant principal officers positions By Jennifer Okereafor

Result of the harmonization the House leadership released during plenary on Tuesday, 18 June 2019, Reginald Nna from Oru West Emerged Majority Leader, Lawman Duruji (Ehime Mbano) Deputy Majority Leader.

The member for Ngor Okpala emerged Chief Whip while Hon. Pascal Okolie from Orlu LGA emerged Deputy Chief Whip.

House during the plenary adopted the amended House rule which makes it possible for a non ranking members to be elected principal officers. It also adopted a motion for recognition and respect of designated seats for principal officers of the House.

Speaker Chiji Collins also during the plenary set a committee to screen  nominees for the leadership of Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development  Commission (ISOPADEC)

The House also at the plenary adopted a motion urging the governor to intervene in the erosion menace at Njaba River along Orlu Road. The motion was moved by member for Njaba, Uju Onwudiwe and seconded by member for Isu, Ngozi Obiefule.

Also during the plenary, the House received a letter from the governor informing it of the dissolution of the Chairmen, vice Chairmen, councillors of the 27 LGAs of the state, as well as Boards of  Ministries, Departments and Agencies and other political appointees.
