The speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Collins Chiji, has attributed his emergence and that of the state Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, to an act of God.
Chiji, who spoke on Saturday at his country home,Eziama community in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state when his kinsmen, Elders Forum Umuezeanyike, paid him a visit, said “only God makes kings.”
The speaker said that he would continue to anchor his political survival in God even as he reemphasized his commitment towards the legislature partnering with the executive in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
The academic turned politician said “the victory of Emeka Ihedioha today is simply an act of God.my victory at the polls was arranged by God but my emergence as the speaker was packaged by God himself. While those who wanted to be speaker paraded names of prominent politicians ,I only relied in God.”
“When you fight a man with grace you will be disgraced. God knows that Ihedioha will be the governor today and He knows that Chiji will be the speaker today. There is time for everything.”
The era of election is over.We are in for governance. Under my leadership we will support the governor to succeed. We are passionate about the growth and development of Imo state.”
The speaker, said that he was not desperate to be the speaker knowing fully well that it was God who chooses public leaders.
He said that he was persecuted and suspended in the 8th Assembly because of his stance against bad governance and anti peoples polices.
Chiji said that God brought Ihedioha of a time the state was dire need of quality and pragmatic leadership.
